NAN JEANNE ASPINWALL GABLE LAMBELL
2. February 1880 in New York | + 24. October 1964
Nan was the first woman known to have ridden solo across North America. She and her husband, Frank Gable, were performers in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
Nan Aspinwall, a trick-riding, sharp-shooting, rope-spinning cowgirl, also performed in variety theatres as an Oriental dancer.

The rival showmen Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill argued over whether a woman could ride alone from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
Nan Aspinwall — also known as “Two-Gun Nan” — proved it by riding from San Francisco to New York in September 1910 on her thoroughbred mare, Lady Ellen. Their only companion was the Border Collie Ky-Ipp.
